To strengthen our small but mighty ‘Product Safety & Compliance’ team for the EMEA region, we are looking for a fearless and proactive Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance Specialist (Engineer).

Briggs & Stratton is the world’s largest producer of petrol engines for the lawn & garden segment and outdoor power industry. From our office in Herten, your main focus will lie on ensuring compliance and regulatory monitoring. You will be expected to stay aware of, and understanding of, complex regulatory developments. Furthermore, you will convert the requirements coming out of your research into action items within project teams, thus supporting our business! Done right, you can make a real impact on the business and prevent risks like product delays, fines, and loss of CE marking. You can also further increase our ability to influence or prepare for changes in the regulatory landscape. You will work alongside one other NL-based compliance colleague, and you will report to the Senior Manager Product Safety & Compliance. Sounds like you?

Your responsibilities:

Conduct compliance reviews during both the design and pre-production phase to ensure adherence to regulations and product standards (such as the Machinery regulation, EMC, RED and the Battery regulation).

Verify the compliance status of existing products and ensure accurate documentation and maintain the technical files (certificates, test reports, declarations, etc.).

Provide guidance to the certification of machines (power solutions and outdoor power equipment) to comply with applicable legislation and standards in cooperation with test labs.

Participate in industry organizations to stay updated on changes in EU legislation and the development of standards (e.g. EGMF, RECHARGE, CEN, ISO).

Evaluate and integrate compliance information into labels, manuals, marketing materials, and technical publications.

Provide advice based on global standards and regulatory research.

Support product development projects and recommend necessary compliance adjustments.

Certify equipment and submit regular compliance reports to authorities.

Contribute to strategy development and risk assessments to ensure regulatory compliance.

Who we're looking for:

You have a Bachelor’s degree preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

You have minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.

You have solid knowledge of EU regulations and industry standards.

You have experience with product development and implementing compliance strategies.

You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

You have excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

You are organized, self-driven, and capable of managing multiple projects effectively.
