The new EXi engines series from Briggs & Stratton makes lawn mower oil maintenance easier than ever. With improved air cleaner seals, cooler engine temperatures, and high-precision manufacturing along with regular scheduled mower maintenance, the company’s new EXi series lawn mower engine is the first that never needs an oil change.* While the EXi engine requires that consumers need to only check the oil level and add as necessary, regular scheduled maintenance must still be performed.
Follow these simple steps to maintain good lawn mower engine health and prolong the life of your engine.
1. Change the air filter. With the EXi engine series, no tools are required to change the air filter. Consult your owner’s manual to find your air filter type (foam, paper, or combination). Browse air filters online, or find a dealer with our dealer locator below.
2. Check the oil. With the new EXi engine, simply check the oil level and if needed, add lawn mower oil. For other engines, read our oil change how-to. Searching for oil? Find your oil type and order online.
3. Change the spark plug. Briggs & Stratton genuine spark plugs are pre-gapped and simple to replace. Replace your spark plug each season to avoid stalled-start frustration.
4. Give your gasoline a boost. Did you know lawn mower gas goes stale after 30 days? Use our Advanced Formula Fuel Treatment and Stabilizer regularly.
