Briggs & Stratton Corporation and Walmart Celebrate "Made in America" and 335 Statesboro Employees

Company Supporting Walmart on American Jobs Initiative

STATESBORO, Georgia (August 30, 2017) – Briggs & Stratton Corporation, the world’s largest manufacturer of gasoline engines for power equipment, today joined local and state officials, along with representatives from Walmart, to celebrate both companies’ support of “Made in America” products at its Statesboro, Georgia facility with its 335 local employees. The celebration was in support of Walmart’s commitment to buy an additional $250 billion in products supporting American jobs by 2023. Briggs & Stratton manufactures engines at its Georgia facility, which power the Murray® brand of garden tractors sold at Walmart.

“Briggs & Stratton manufactures products in the U.S.A. to better meet our customers’ needs,” said David Rodgers, senior vice president and president of the Global Engines and Power Group. “We are proud to be an example of how manufacturers and retailers can work together and provide the innovative, high-quality American-made products consumers are looking for. Walmart’s commitment to buy an additional $250 billion in products supporting American jobs by 2023 is commendable.”

“Our customers have told us that second to price, where products are made influences their purchase decisions,” said Cindi Marsiglio, vice president, U.S. manufacturing, Walmart. “We are focused on buying great quality products that create jobs in communities across the U.S. It makes sense for our customers, our communities and our company.”

Today, more than 70 million U.S. households and thousands of businesses use Briggs & Stratton engines and outdoor power equipment to maintain beautiful outdoor spaces. Eighty-five percent of Briggs & Stratton engines and products are made in the U.S.A. with U.S. and globally sourced components.
