How the Mow ‘n’ Stow Folding Lawn Mower Engine Works

In this video, Briggs & Stratton Marketing Manager J.P. Benjamins explains the small engine innovation and engineering that went into creating the exciting new Mow ‘n’ Stow folding lawn mower engine. John Hurst, Chief Development Engineer at Toro, also shares some of his insights into the development process.

Adapting the Mower Engine for Upright Storage

The engineering team had to learn how to contain the fuel and oil when the engine was in the vertical position. What they ended up doing was looking at every possible way fuel and oil could get out of the mower engine, and made design changes to address every one of those areas. When you put all the new different design components together, you get a revolutionary small engine that can safely be stored vertically.

Other Benefits of the Toro Recycler Lawn Mower

The Toro Recycler lawn mower, when stored vertically, will save up to 70% of space compared to a traditional lawn mower with a fixed handle system. It’s easy to lift and store by lifting the handle and rotating about the rear wheels, rather than doing a dead lift. It’s also easier to clean out underneath the mower, in addition to easily accessing the blade – so it’s easier to keep your lawn mower running smoothly.
