Air Filter Cartridge & Pre-Cleaner Assembly Installation Instructions
For Service Part No. 499486S/273638S / DIY Part No. 5063

Replaces 5069-698754/273638S

FITS ENGINES:
18.0-26.0 Gross HP/CV‡ I/C®, Intek™, or Extended Life Series™ V-Twin



1. Unscrew air filter cover knobs
2. Remove air filter cover
3. Remove air filter cartridge
4. Clean any debris from base assembly then install new parts in reverse order. Do not oil the pre-cleaner (if equipped).

NOTICE: Tabs must be visible through slots to ensure proper installation. Improper installation will cause damage to engine.

‡All power levels are stated gross horsepower at 3600 rpm per SAE J1940 as rated by Briggs & Stratton

Which goes in first the pre-cleaner or the paper filter?

The paper filter goes closet to the engine with the pre-filter on the outside.

Why does the instructions say to saturate in oil for this pre-cleaner, if this B&S site states that you do NOT oil?

Treating the pre-filter with oil will depend on the specific part number. Some need to be oiled, while others do not.

Do you need to oil the foam pre-filter that has a paper air filter also?
