Registration Not Required for Engine Warranty

Do I have to register my engine (online or otherwise) in order for my warranty to be in effect?

Briggs & Stratton does not require that your engine be registered in order for you to obtain warranty coverage (the equipment manufacturer - i.e. Murray, MTD, etc. - may require registration for warranty on the equipment to be in effect). We do not have an online engine registration page.

We do, however, require you to have proof of purchase when turning your engine in to your local Briggs & Stratton Authorized Dealer for warranty concerns. If proof of the initial purchase date is not available at the time warranty service is requested, the manufacturing date Code number of the engine will be used by the dealer to determine the warranty period.

For your convenience, we offer three easy ways to locate your nearest Briggs & Stratton Authorized Dealers:

  • Use our website's Service Center Locator.

  • Visit www.yellowpages.com and enter "Lawn Mowers" or "Engines-Gasoline" in the Category search field and your Postal Code in the Location search field.

  • Call the Briggs & Stratton Automated Hotline at (800) 444-7774. This hotline is available 24 hours a day / 7 days a week and features voice recognition technology to assist you in finding the Briggs & Stratton Authorized Dealers in your area. Automated maintenance tips, product information, and FAQs are also offered through voice activated menus.
