This is a 4 stroke engine. You can use a SAE 30, 10W30 or a synthetic 5W30. Additional oil recommendations can be found here: http://bit.ly/11lKQTd

I purchased SAE 30 Non-detergent oil and was curious to see if I could use it in my Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine. The manual says to add a "quality detergent" SAE 30 but I wanted to check before I put this in my mower engine.

Asked by: rroutt
The engine requires detergent oil. Do not use non-detergent oil in the engine.

Why is there a "DO NOT REMOVE SEAL" on the foil sealing?  How am I supposed to get the oil in the Briggs & Stratton oil receptacle of the lawn mower?

Asked by: perplexed
This is the response I received in my e-mail,  -0- zippo; and advertisement to purchase additional Lawn Mower oil.  I have two bottles I purchased yesterday to be filled into my Toro lawnmower; however, the foil protection reads "DO NOT REMOVE SEAL."  If I don't remove the seal, how is the oil to flow into the lawnmower?

How much oil [in ozs. please] does the average push mower take?

I am just tired of guessing each time I change oil in my push mower or my neighbors. If I could find a container that held the right amount of oil I also could buy a large container and safe money. Hope you can help?

The oil capacity depends on the size of the engine. To locate any information on your engine, you will first need the model type and code.
