How to Set-up Professional Generator Installation

All standby generators should be professionally installed by a local Briggs & Stratton Authorized Standby Generator Dealer or licensed contractor.

To install a generator:

  1. Call your authorized Briggs & Stratton Standby Generator Dealer or qualified electrician/licensed contractor to provide a free in-home estimate.
  2. Authorized Briggs & Stratton Standby Generator Dealer or qualified electrician/licensed contractor will provide a quote based on your generator installation site, generator placement location, fuel source, electrical service, appliances and your backup power preferences.
  3. Purchase standby generator, transfer switch and necessary accessories and set-up time for installation.
  4. Authorized Briggs & Stratton Standby Generator Dealer or qualified electrician/licensed contractor will work with a gas installation company, plumber or propane gas company to connect the generator to your fuel source.
  5. To install a generator, they must be installed to local code requirements. Your Authorized Briggs & Stratton Standby Generator dealer or installer will coordinate with authorities for any inspections or permits that may be required.
  6. After your generator installation, test the standby generator based on start-up instructions provided with the unit.
  7. Register your new product.
