Arrow/Notch on Top of Piston
Where should the arrow or notch on the top of the piston point to?
For the majority of our engines, this arrow or notch should point to the magneto (flywheel) side of the engine.
The exception to this would be vertical Inteks in the 120000 Model Series. When installing a piston in these engines, the notch should face the PTO (crankshaft).
The manufacture date of your engine can be determined using its Code Number. For an explanation of our numbering system, please visit our Numerical Designation System page.
