Generator Installation Safety & Support

Your GE generator will be connected to your homes electrical distribution system and fuel supply (either natural gas or propane) to provide you with power when your utility power supply fails.

GE recommends having your home generator installed by an authorized GE dealer or a licensed contractor. Installing a generator involves a connection to your homes power supply and can be an electrical hazard if not done correctly. Connecting your generator to its natural gas or propane fuel source can also prove to be potentially hazardous if not done correctly as well.

By using an authorized GE dealer or licensed contractor, you can help ensure a safe standby generator installation. You can also rely on your GE dealer or licensed electrician/plumber  to acquire any necessary permits and to confirm that your generator installation will pass building inspection and local ordinance requirements.

Professional installation of your generator and generator transfer switch is required to maintain your generator warranty. Your GE dealer / contractor can also provide regular maintenance to help make sure your GE generator is ready to provide power in the event of a blackout, however, only authorized GE dealers may perform warranty work on GE standby generators.

Generator Installation Cost

Generator installation cost varies depending on local pricing, your chosen installer, and local code requirements.

Your GE generator is designed to make installation more affordable with easier placement outside of your home and power management controls within the generator system to keep your total cost of acquisition lower.

GE generator dealers can provide local installation for you, as well as scheduled maintenance and authorized warranty repair.
