Should I take my engine to a Briggs & Stratton Authorized Dealer or should I repair this myself?
If your engine is still under warranty, take the engine to a Briggs & Stratton Authorized Dealer to be considered for warranty coverage. If your engine is outside the warranty period, it would be up to you and your mechanical abilities as to which to choose.
We always recommend that you take your unit to a factory trained expert for all your engine needs, however, if you choose otherwise, it is important that you at least have the proper literature to help you fix your engine right the first time (Illustrated Parts List and Repair Manual at a minimum.)
Your Operator's Manual will tell you which Repair Manual you will need. To order a repair manual, please contact the Central Sales and Service Distributor in your country, which you will find in our Service Dealer Locator.
