Briggs and Stratton is #1. I have various labor saving devices with engines manufactured by B&S. Continue to keep Americans employed by keeping your manufacturing in the United States. I will never purchase any powered equipment that is foreign produced or owned.. I have always been a fan of B&S and will continue in that tradition as long as they are manufactured in the USofA. I also enjoy working on your products whether a engine tune up or complete overhaul. October 31, 2011

Runs great but...... I love this motor when it runs, here is my problem, I have this unit on a top of the line John Deere Momentum walk behind mower, I lowered the cutting height for the final cut of the season, and scalped a small tree root that was covered by leaves. the engine continued to run then began to shake violently. I immediately took it to my John Deere dealer where I was informed that the crankshaft was bent and there could possibly be residual damage in the sump. The blade was not even bent and the shaft key was intact. I had a $150 Yardman mower that I used for 10 years and had scapled roots inadvertently before it ran like a champ. Now I have the nicest mower that I have ever had in my life that has been rendered useless from a bent crankshaft with no other damage to the blade or key way that typically would give way to save the shaft, needless to say I am disappointed. staring the best and built the best. I bought the engine from my neighbor in may of 2011. He bought it from sear about 2 years ago. the mower sat for about 2 year after the doc. said you need to stop mowing. The engine has a starter that i never use. I mow grass for my business. I do not prime of choke the engine. I just pull the cord one time and the engine firers. Two months after i bought the push mower i hit a stomp and bent the crankshaft but did not break the flywheel key. the engine was quite easy to tare down and rebuild with a new crankshaft. Powerful Engine I purchased a John Deere JS 46 mower with this engine. It has crazy power for a walk behind mower engine. The oil flter is a nice touch for heavy duty applications. It is quiet for the amount af power it has. My only concern is that it might have a weak shaft in it. After only three uses of the mower it broke without me even hitting anything. I have read reviews on other websites and have seen some of the same problems. Over all I would choose it over the Quantom engines I have owned in the past. November 25, 2011
Excellent I am a technecian and really favor this series. I have worked on Briggs & Stratton engines for the last 15 years or so and much favor and recommend this series. The only problem I have with this series is that the petrol tank seems to separate at the seems with time November 2, 2011
Great Mower This is my second mower that replaced a 7 year old one. Starts first time every pull, great power for picking up leaves as well as grass. November 1, 2011

Gutless to the extreme I recently bought a Masport 800AL (Top of the line contractor series) from Squires Mower & Machinery. This mower is fitted with the 850 series engine which has proved to be absolutely gutless compared to my 750 series. I am definitely not happy with the performance of this engine, and probably will never buy one again. It's really a bit of a shame considering my old, Rover motors made by Briggs in the 80's outperform it. January 7, 2012

A True Classic! If I had to pick one classic Briggs and Stratton engine, this would be it! + Starts easy + Uses proven design, but refined + Runs great + Parts are easy to find and not expensive Would substract 1/2-star, not because it's a bad engine, because these days it does not include a throttle anymore. It's older brothers and sisters from the 60/70/80s/90s did. ("Pulsa Prime carburator" to be precise) November 12, 2011
best lawn mower i've ever owned i bought this mower used. it is by far the best mower I've ever owned. it pushes and pulls with less effort then a self propelled. It starts everytime with two pulls or less. And it uses less gas and oil then any other lawn mower I have ever used. I've had more compliments on my lawn this year then I've had combining the other six years I've lived here. Thank you Briggs & Stratton November 2, 2011
Mr hit rocks no problem, high grass yep! takes a brutal beating, and keeps on cutting,my mower should be in a museum.(WOW!!!). October 31, 2011

performance This engine is a great model, I have had mine since 2002 and so far the only maintance that ive needed to do is just the regular repair each season December 2, 2011
Won't Quit I bought a Briggs&Stratton 500 Series Lawn Machine over two years ago and I cannot get this lawnmower to stop working, no matter what I put it through. My yard and surrounding area is easily one full acre and this push mower plows through it every other week just beautifully. I double my mower as a shredder and a mulcher and so far there isn't anything, within reason, that this machine cannot do. I recently cleared a wooded area surrounding one side of my house and I used my 500 Series mower to shred all of the brush, vines, sticks, stumps, and leaves that accumalated over the years. I was able to create a beautifully manicured area out of a place that was once just over grown woods. I chopped up boards, roots, large sticks, baseballs, golfballs, bottles, and even rocks half the size of the engine itself. Naturally, the mower would shut off when it hit something big but it started right back up every single time. I did not have to worry about what was lurking under the leaves and brush because I knew my mower could handle it. I cannot describe how pleased I am with this mower; it is easily the best investment I have ever made in my life. I am on a mission to see just how much abuse this mower will take without breaking down on me. All I can say right now is that it has been through more than all of the mowers I have ever owned before, combined. The only maintenance I have ever done is gas, oil, and cleaning the air filter. This machine absolutely will not quit and it has made me a Briggs&Stratton buyer for lifel November 20, 2011
This is a hard-working, easy to start and use push mower. I have had this mower for two years. It starts very easy, pushes easy and is very dependable. It can handle tall grass and unlevel ground. I love it. November 13, 2011
Military quality I bought my mower 4 years ago. Without spark plug changing, without oil changing, my lawnmower works perfectly. This mower is worthy of a military equipment. November 5, 2011

wont start all the time went well when i first got it and its just gone down hill .dont mind briggs and strattions but all in all this model is no good November 19, 2011
I like Briggs and Stratton engines because they are the most dependable and easiest to diagnose and repair. I'm 77 and have always mowed my own lawn and mowers with Briggs and Stratton engines always last longer than ones I have had with other engine makes. When I don't hit a stump and bend the shaft the Briggs and Stratton engine always out lasts the frames. If I keep the air filter clean and don't snag the carburator springs and stretch them, they always keep running like new. You build the best engines. October 31, 2011
Value model with weak links 3rd B&S mower over my lifetime, all fail on carburator springs that break after a year or two and then need replacement - dificlult and at cost or bodged stretching and refitting/locking the levers with lockties, as now after 2 years that means starting can need several pulls and speed is not as fast as optimum. Revs generally OK when new but linkages wear and usually motor with weak springs hunts unless you lock it down. Otherwise would last a great many years and is a great reliable motor. Send me a set..... October 31, 2011
love these small briggs and stratton mower engines these are amongst the best mower engines available, put fresh gas in ,and check your oil. perform routine maintenance, and these engines will last and last. powerful and dependable, i wish the lawn mower manufacturers would use briggs and stratton instead of those chinese honda-knock-offs October 31, 2011
