Briggs and Stratton JR 206 class dominates speed chart at 2010 Kid Kart Nationals.

Pevely, MO: While out numbered by the Comer class, Briggs and Stratton JR 206 powered karts set fastest overall time for the weekend with a lap of 50.759 set by Derek DesLauriers from Colorado during the 10 lap pre-final. The JR 206 15 lap final featured an intense battle between Derek and Connecticut’s Harry Coulton fighting for the top of the podium. Derek was able to hold on for the win with Trent Tucker from Ohio, Michigan’s Gage Rodgers, Wisconsin’s Seth Hickman, and Jaydon Larson from Minnisotta rounding out the feild.  A total of 44 karts from 13 states were on hand for a great weekend that saw a monsoon cut practice short on Friday and beautiful weather the rest of the weekend with temperatures in the low 90’s.

The Comer restricted class had 11 entries and featured a lot of lead changes in the 15 lap final with Iowa’s Austin Kendig taking home the 4ft tall 1st place trophy  more than 10 second ahead of Joshua Hansen from Kansas  with Indiana’s Mark Feneis, Iowa’s Talon Drake, and local talent Jaden Smoot completing the top five.

In the Unrestricted class there were 27 karts vying for 26 positions in the 8th annual Kid Kart National Final. Getting 26 kid karts to hold their position coming to the green was no problem for this field of drivers, however there was a turn one incident involving four karts and ended the day for one unlucky driver.  The remainder of the 15 lap final was relatively incident free with 19 kart finishing on the lead lap and Wisconsin’s Zach Preiser claiming the top spot on the podium with Samuel Paley of Kentucky a close second. The top five spots were rounded out by Parker Abed from Minnesota, Derek DesLauriers, and Ryan Lewis from Texas. Honorable mention goes out to Trent Tucker whom has only been in karting for four months. He will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.
