Briggs & Stratton Program Encourages People to Share Their Backyard Pride
“EddieGram” gives interactive voice to natural neighborhood rivalries
MILWAUKEE – (April 1, 2009) – Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble. Jerry Seinfeld and Newman. France and Germany. It is hard to argue that neighborhood rivalries don’t have a prominent place in the history of pop culture…or the world.
Briggs & Stratton Corp., the leading manufacturer of gasoline engines for outdoor power equipment, is giving a voice to this tradition through its new EddieGram web site (www.eddiegram.com). Using a character named Engine Eddie, visitors can send personalized messages to friends/neighbors bragging about their lawn or suggesting that others’ lawns need help.
The animated Engine Eddie character will deliver messages via full speech capability. Users can choose from a number of pre-recorded options or type in their own. They will also be able to upload their own face on Engine Eddie.
“There is something in the DNA of Briggs & Stratton owners where they consider their yard’s appearance as a reflection of themselves,” said Anita S. Fisher, marketing communication manager, Briggs & Stratton. “We created the EddieGram program to give these people a venue to showcase their pride. And if they can help others shape up their lawns, even better.”
Engine Eddie will become a familiar face in the coming months. Beyond EddieGram, he will be sharing lawn care tips in an April 2 satellite media tour. Engine Eddie is also hosting a contest on www.enginesmatter.com where people can win a lawn mower every week through the end of May.
Briggs & Stratton Corp. developed the EddieGram program in conjunction with agency Cramer-Krasselt (www.c-k.com) and Oddcast (www.oddcast.com).
