BRIGGS & STRATTON WARNS OF FRAUDULENT CHECK SCAM
Milwaukee, WI – October 23, 2008 – Briggs & Stratton Corporation announced today that counterfeit checks using a variation of the Briggs & Stratton Corporation name were recently mailed out to consumers by an unknown source. Each check was accompanied by a fraudulent letter that indicated that the recipient was awarded a home improvement grant. The originator of the letter and check is unknown at this time and the intent of said communication is to swindle money from the recipient. Briggs & Stratton Corporation has notified the proper authorities regarding this scam and is asking anyone receiving these fraudulent materials to turn them over to their local authorities or destroy the documents immediately.
