Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university studying toward an associate degree in mechanical design.
- Must have and maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5/4.0.
- Must have good mechanical aptitude.
- An interest in design and/or engines is a plus.
Hours / Schedule
Mechanical Design co-op students work full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year
Product Design Co-op students will:
- Under supervision, perform simple, routine, and repetitive designs using standard procedures, tools, materials, machines, equipment and software.
- During the summer term, learn Pro-E and work on small projects and engineering changes while learning the Briggs & Stratton engine system.
- Shadow an engineer and senior designer.
- During the fall and spring terms, work on more complicated drawings and assist on projects on a part-time basis.
Tool Design Co-op students will:
- Under supervision, provide detailed drawings and bills of material from fixture and machine assembly drawings using standard drawing procedures.
- During the summer term, learn DDN/Autocad software, tool room machining equipment, Briggs & Stratton component machining and assembly processes.
- Shadow a senior tool designer.
- During the fall and spring terms, students work on more complex drawings and assist on design projects on a part-time basis.
