Wreath When you’re clearing your lawn of twigs before mowing, pruning your bushes or raking your landscape, give your yard debris a second look before tossing it to the curb. It’s likely you have the makings of a perfectly wonderful door wreath that you can put together in no time – and for pretty much nothing. It's a fun way to put your creative nature into practice, while making good use of natural resources that would normally go to waste. See what suits your style and sarroundings, and how easy it is to do!

Twig Wreath

What you’ll need:

  • One wire clothes hanger
  • Wire cutter
  • Florist wire
  • Ribbon or twine
  • Large supply of long, thin twigs

What to do:

  • Use a wire cutter to clip off the hook of the clothes hanger
  • Bend the hanger to form a circle, keeping it as smooth around as possible
  • Wrap the hanger snuggly with florist wire
  • Cut your supply of twigs to between eight and ten inches
  • Place a twig at an angle at the base of the circle and twist the florist wire around the twig and wire hanger to hold it in place
  • Continue placing twigs at an angle and fastening with florist wire until you’ve covered the entire hanger (If you want a bit more bling, insert some well-chosen, colorful fall leaves or pieces of berried branches around the circle)
  • Twist the florist wire in the back to close
  • Tie a piece of ribbon or twine at the top of the circle to use as a pretty wreath hanger

Pinecone Wreath

What you’ll need:

  • A glue gun
  • Four sturdy, straight branches
  • Pruner or small saw
  • A good collection of pinecones
  • Ribbon or twine

What to do:

  • Form the branches into a square or rectangle
  • Cut your branches to the desired size of your wreath
  • Fasten the branches together with hot glue
  • Use hot glue to adhere your pinecones to the branches – cover generously
  • Tie ribbon or twine at the top of your wreath as a hanger

That’s all there is to it! Just hang your wreath and enjoy a simply beautiful, natural and inexpensive enhancement to your entryway.
