C'mon - Stay Out a Little Longer

Those morning frosts might have arrived, but cooler temperatures shouldn’t keep you from opening the door and savoring the changing scenery. There are easy enhancements you can make to your yard that will warm you up to the idea of stepping outside, even straight into winter.

Heat it up. A basic fire pit or electric patio heater won’t recreate a balmy summer day, but they will help keep you toasty for a brisk al fresco dinner, morning coffee or any other favorite outdoor pleasure. Slip into a Snuggie® and you’re all set! (Tip: A sweater or blanket works, too.)

Cover it up. Autumn rain. Falling leaves. Gentle snow flurries. All beautiful to observe – but even better when you’re protected from the elements. Add an awning over your outdoor seating area for a great view of nature without it landing in your lap.

Backyard Heat LampLight it up. You know how it is this time of year: It’s dark when you wake up and dark when you get home from work. Brighten up your yard – and your mood – with some well-placed landscape lighting and hang out after dark.

Liven it up. It’s true. Once the fall leaves are gone it can look a little bleak out there. Keep some color in your outdoor setting by including a variety of evergreens in your vista. For extra perk, hang birdfeeders in your yard to attract lively feathered friends to your home all season long.

Bonus! By prepping your outdoor living space now for late-into-the-season enjoyment, you’ll be ready to get out there even earlier when signs of spring finally arrive. Just be sure to follow fall lawn maintenance tips and winterize your lawn care equipment for a great jumpstart to a new growing season!
