Now that you have been mowing the lawn for a few weeks, you know if your mower is operating smoothly or not. If you have a hard time starting your mower, the cause may be old gasoline. Gas goes stale in about 30 days. Use a fuel preservative in the gas tank, or use a FreshStart® Gas Cap, which automatically drips the correct amount of preservative into the tank all season long.
Poor starting may also mean that the spark plug is fouled. If you did not tune up your mower this year, do so now to assure trouble-free mowing. A tune-up is easy to do. It involves cleaning or changing the spark plug, changing the air filter (and fuel filter on riding mowers) and changing the oil. For information on how to do a tune-up, check out this tune-up article.
