Get to Know Your Service Dealer to Start Off the Mowing Season Right

Proper and regularly-scheduled maintenance of your lawn care equipment is key for peak performance and the long life of your push mower. You can tune up your mower yourself - it's really not hard. But there's no shame in admitting you'd rather spend your time beautifying your landscape instead of messing with your mower.

Your service dealer is at-the-ready all year to be your maintenance assistant and expert troubleshooter. Service dealers can provide the TLC your equipment needs to increase its lifespan, which can help you save big money in the long run, not to mention give you the peace of mind that the job is being done right.

Spring Mower Service Includes a Tune-Up

After a long winter on garage hiatus, make sure your push mower is in prime condition for the new season by giving it a tune-up. Your service dealer can take care of this must-do maintenance to get your mower in tiptop shape for topping off growing grass, including:

  • Changing the oil
  • Replacing the spark plug
  • Replacing the fuel filter
  • Replacing the air filter
  • Sharpening (or replacing) blades

Mower Blade Sharpening

Keeping your push mower blades sharpened is critical to allow clean cutting and prevent “tearing” that can make your lawn look dull and uneven. If you mow your lawn at least four times a month (and we hope you do, since regular mowing is one of the best ways to maintain a health lawn), be sure to have the blades sharpened or the blade replaced at least once a year.

Most Common Mower Problems

If your push mower suddenly isn't performing at the level you're used to, service dealers can help you get to the bottom of the problem. Poor starting is usually caused by one of two things: old gasoline (it goes stale in about a month) or your mower needs a tune-up. Both are easy fixes. You or your dealer should perform an annual tune-up, and you should use fresh gas and consider using a fuel preservative to keep it fresh.
